D. INDIA EMPLOYMENT SECOND PREFERENCE HAS BECOME “UNAVAILABLE”
Despite two retrogressions of the India Employment Second preference cut-off date, demand for numbers by CIS Offices for adjustment of status cases has remained extremely high in recent months. As a result the annual limit for the India Employment Second preference category has been reached, and the category has become “unavailable” effective immediately. What does this mean for me and those applying for employment visa's from the US to India? I'm not EXACTLY sure at this point, but I've heard this is called reciprocatory action. Typically governments will reciprocate the same measures another country is taking in order to put pressure on the initiating country to change the measure. Now I am looking into this - but it was mentioned by a reputable source that I may be the sad victim of this action. Fingers crossed this is not the case.
Only time will tell, January 31st to be exact. After the 31st, we will stop waiting and look into the "next best" option. The fact is, I have to go back to India. I have to get my stuff, settle bills, close bank accounts and sadly say good bye to my friends... :-( Until then, I will be here in North Carolina, working until 5, 6am, tanning, reading, writing, blogging and most importantly building a stronger and deeper relationship with Dad. I'm very thankful for this time...we had a very good crying session today and I think some walls started cracking!!
