Yet, yet...while this is quite a posh locality...I still have major water problems. Water comes full power in the morning...sparingly in the afternoon, and zeroooo in the evening. I've learned the importance of saving water, filling up buckets in the morning for use in the evening...and scheduling baths, washing cloths and cooking at appropriate times. I've learned how to flush a toilet with no running water and how to take a full shower/bath in a medium size bucket of water.
Hot water is another issue that needs to be taken care of... And I just can not get used to cold showers/baths... And "bath" here is used to refer to taking a shower... Rarely do you say "I'm going to take a shower" it's almost always referred to taking a "bath." Anyway, in order to get hot running water, a geezer must be hooked up to the water pipes and turned on for at least an hour before bathing for warm/hot water to come running through. If you don't have a geezer an immersion rode can be used. An immersion rode is exactly what it sounds like... Immerse a hot rode in a bucket of water and in 30 mins. time the water will become boiling hot. I however do not have one of those...I have a geezer of which I have turned on all the time so hot water is guaranteed when water is available. See the picture below:
As for last night... we had a birthday party for my good, good friend Anshul. He doesn't like his picture taken, even though he's quite good looking.... Instead below are a few pictures of the party. It was loads of fun... We made drinks, ordered tons of chicken and rolls and played cards. It's the time of year to play cards. During the festival of Diwali (festival of lights) there is a tradition of playing cards. So that's what we did... I won big on the first round, but then my winnings continued to dwindle down and came out negative Rs.100 ($2.20).
Jatin, shuffling and dealing cards. Pavitra in the background memorized by some hottie on tv.
Needless to say, after a few hours of drinking, bathroom use was necessary. But there was no running water... and no flushing or washing hands. But I did have buckets filled with clean water in preparations for this. However, in a useless attempt to check the water supply, taps were turned on full blast with nothing flowing out. For some reason, in a drunken state, people didn't remember the need to turn those taps off. I woke up this morning to taps bursting with water and sinks over flowing.... Gotta remember to turn those taps off. Thankfully my sweet sweet maid comes everyday and helped clean up the dirty floors, sticky counters and take out the trash. Here she is folding my cloths... She is quite happy, trust me...just prefers not to smile... :-(
