Tonight there was a festival happening, 'Sabay Raat', (celebration of the dead). Huge crowds were around - all going to the mosque and to eat. Security was super tight and in reality it really wasn't a good idea for them to bring me there... Except...the food is just soooo sooo good at Karims that we take the chance everytime - but tonight was something else. We had to park far away at Daria Ganj and walk it to Karims.
We arrived around 10pm and there were sooo many people, police, animals, children, beggers - all there for the festival. The road to Karims is a nice walk - down the lane just next to the lit Mosque - the sounds, smells, lights and vibs you experience are truly amazing and beautiful. I had to walk very close to Pavitra and Anshul and try to be as inconspicuous as possible. Concentrating on following them closly and not looking at anyone in the eyes, I saw maybe 3 - 4 other women among, I'd say 2000 people, easily. When we finally arrived and got a table, we started with onions and kababs. The we moved onto mutton, keema and Anshul's favorite brain curry....ohhh the gravy is sooo delicious and the kababs just melt in your mouth. The food isn't hot - but filled with amazing spices - your mouth just begs for more until your stomach can't handle anymore.
I have to say I loved the whole experience tonight - even though it wasn't very safe - the food was amazing but I really just loved being there with Pav and Anshul. I love them both sooo much. I share a closeness to both individually and together. Tonight I felt like I was exactly were I should be and though it was risky, I loved every bit of it!
